AirPrint General Information
AirPrint technology was designed for WiFi printers to provide wireless printing. Bearing in mind that nowadays the market of mobile devices is growing very fast, this step looks pretty reasonable. Apple Computer, Inc. with its leading position on the mobile market supports this technology in its iPad and iPhone devices in order to make them even more mobile and give the users of iDevices the possibility to print documents right from the device without any wires.
HP printers which support AirPrint are called ePrint printers. However, there is a slight difference between ePrint and AirPrint - ePrint gives you the possibility to e-mail the document to printer which is connected to the Internet. Currently other printer producers, such as Canon, Brother, Lexmark, Samsung, Dell and Epson, started to add AirPrint support to their printers or announce it for their future models.
So, what are the requirements for using AirPrint technology on your iDevice? Here is the list of requirements for iDevice:
- Running iOS 4.2 or later.
- iPad or later.
- iPhone 3GS or later.
- iPod touch (3rd generation or later).
